Retainer Agreements are important as they set out the expectations and limitations of your retainer. You can automatically generate them by going to the downwards arrow button in the top right corner and selecting "Documents". Then choose "Retainer" from the list of documents.
What configurations can I make in the "General" section?
- The "Responsible Lawyer" field lets you choose any user on your account from the drop-down list to appoint them as the responsible lawyer on the file. If the responsible lawyer is not a user on your account, leave the field blank or manually enter their name into the document once it's been generated.
- The "Deposit" section lets you specify the details if you are collecting a deposit on the retainer amount. Click the "Include Retainer Deposit" box and enter the amount of the deposit against final fees. Click the "Include Initial Deposit" button and enter an amount if you collect an initial deposit for the first meeting even before being retained.
- The "Fee" section is where you can set out the fee agreement for the file. Click the "Include Quote" box and choose a Quote Type: "Fixed", "Estimate" or "Hourly Rate". For any of the Quote Types, click the "Range" box if the fee is going to fall between two amounts.
What customization choices can I make in the "Provided Documents" section?
- The "Provided Documents" section is where you will set out which documents you will be preparing for the client. Check the boxes of the document types you are going to provide.
