What is a retainer?

The retainer is a signed agreement between you and the client that confirms the terms of the engagement. It is useful as it sets out the expectations for the file to prevent misunderstandings down the road. It is usually signed during or just after the initial client meeting and covers issues like:

1. Fee structure
2. Deposit amounts
3. Provided documents

How do I generate a joint retainer?

To generate a joint retainer, make sure you have added both spouses as clients and linked them together using the "Spouse Client" field. When you generate the retainer document, a joint retainer will automatically generate.
